Day 1 of 365: Wall Stand – #Handstand365 Handstand Workouts

Hi! This is Juan from First off I want to say sorry for the poor video quality. So like you I’ve always wanted to be able to do a handstand, and I was thinking about making a website about my journey on how to do that, how I got good at it, etc. Then I thought, “well why not make a website where you actually see me going through the journey?” So, instead of figuring it out and then saying “hey this is what you can do, let me put some ads up and maybe make some money off of it”, I said, “you know what? Let me take you on my journey, make a fool of myself on YouTube and have fun with it”. So I decided that is what I am going to do.

I do not know how to do a hand stand at all. And you are watching this video, you are going to this site and saying, “hey this guy doesn’t know how to do a handstand. Why am I learning from him?” Well, I have been a personal trainer at certain points of my life. I am high school teacher. I hope that I can do a good job at conveying all the things that I do. I hope to teach you some really good exercises along the way that will help you get to the point where you can do a good handstand. The exercises that I am going to show you are the exercises I am going to be doing because, right now I can’t do a handstand, so I would not be showing you an exercise that was useless.

I want you to come along on this journey with me. I think it would be fun. I think it will be cool to put myself out there and make a little bit of a fool of myself., not in a way that people treat themselves as crash test dummies and hope they get 10 million views. More like, a fun thing. This is something that almost nobody knows how do. I wanted learn to be able to do crazy martial arts, and so that’s what I do. I always learned to do crazy amounts of math so I got my masters in math. And, the handstand is sort of like a physical thing that I always wanted to do, sort of like a super hero type thing. It’s something that I think would be fun if you try it out.

I am recording on my computer honestly because just like you it’s something that I am not sure if I will stick to. If you are watching this video and you are hoping to learn how to do handstands from these sets of videos and you are only looking at day one and I’ve only posted day three, look, I am posting videos all the way to 365. You know it because you saw the videos. I am not posting these videos if I plan on not continuing. I am definitely going to continue. So once I get to the point where I’ve decided, “you know what, I am going to do this”, I’ll get myself a nice camera, a little present for myself, and I think it will be fun. I’ll get a little GoPro, one of the good ones.

I hope you will follow me along on the journey. I think it will be fun. I’ve heard the people can do handstands in 60 days, so hopefully 60 days from now I will be doing a handstand and hopefully you will to.

One of the best things about working out and working on your handstand is, you don’t need any equipment. You need pants, you need a t-shirt, tuck in your t-shirt. You are done. Sneakers are optional. Socks are optional. Padded gloves are optional. I am not using them. You can use phones for timers. You don’t need a special timer. You don’t need special cameras if you don’t plan on filming yourself. You just do it. You get a wall, you have a wall and you go. After a while you don’t even need the wall. You’ve got everything you need.

So, I am going to go make a fool of myself now. I set my timer up for 1 minute and 15 seconds so I can start the timer and give myself 15 seconds to set myself up. When it hits a minute, I’ll start trying to do my handstand, and last as long as I can. I am probably going to fall very quickly, but I’ll just try to bounce right back up. You can follow along and do the same thing as me. Get your timer ready and just go. Okay? Let’s go.

This is tough. This is really tough, you see. So if you are having hard time with this, know that I am having a hard time with it as well. Just going to stay up for an extra few seconds.

My videos are going to look something like that. But, I do want to say a couple of words. You notice when I just tried a full minute, it was very tough for me. If you can’t do a full minute, look, do 30 seconds, 45 seconds, take a longer break then I did. I took maybe a 4 to 5 second break. Do what you gotta do to get yourself started. Everyone is going to progress at their own pace. Me, I don’t know how long it’s going to take me to do a handstand without a wall and to be really comfortable with calling it a handstand. You might do it faster than me, or you might do it slower than me, but along the way I am going to give you tips and exercises to work on and hopefully we can get there together.
